Bruce Power Gains 40 MWe by Implementing the PDR/DVR System PROCESSPLUS®
In the scope of their “Project 2030”, Bruce Power Nuclear Power Plant, situated in Kincardine (Ontario), Canada, has implemented the process data reconciliation (PDR) / data validation and reconciliation (DVR) system PROCESSPLUS® by German engineering and software company BTB Jansky. The application of reconciled correction factors for feedwater flow and temperature as well as for reheat drain flows at Units 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8 has resulted in a total power recovery of 39.7 MWe, a total financial gain of C$15.9 Million per year. After reconnecting units 3 and 4 to the grid in 2027 and 2028, the total gain is expected to improve to over 50 MWe.
PROCESSPLUS® correction factors are used to correct systematic errors of conventional measuring instruments and to recover lost power caused by these erroneous measurements. The PROCESSPLUS® System is used for the contradiction-free plant monitoring of the primary, secondary loop and the cooling cycle. PROCESSPLUS® facilitates the continuous optimization of plant operation based on quality-assured reconciled process data and can be used for measurement uncertainty recapture uprates (MUR).
BTB Jansky and PROCESSPLUS® are certified according to the PDR/DVR standard VDI 2048 (2017).
